Release notes, updates, and announcements from the LookPilot team.

New Tracking Model & Tray Mode

Note: To limit the number of issues in the main build, this version is currently released as a public beta only. See the Public Beta section below to learn how to switch your installation to the beta.

New Tracking Model: Vega & Altair

  • You can now choose between two head-tracking models in Settings › Head tracking mode.
  • Vega (the original model) tends to stay more consistent in tougher conditions like dim light or a partially visible face.
  • Altair (a newer 3D model) can track more precisely when you have good lighting and a clear view of your face.
  • Neither is strictly better; it depends on your camera and setup. Try both and keep whichever tracks better. Vega stays the default, so nothing changes unless you switch.

Tray Mode

  • LookPilot can now run quietly in the system tray, with autostart and a one-click camera toggle in the Gaming tab.
  • The first time you close LookPilot, it asks how you want it to run: Manual (closes completely), Semi-automatic (stays in the tray), or Fully automatic (starts with your PC, always ready). You can change this anytime in Settings.
  • New Turn off camera in tray option: when LookPilot is in the tray with no game connected, the camera powers down to save resources, then comes back on automatically when you reopen the window.

Steam: Offline Mode

  • Licensed Steam users can now run LookPilot fully offline, with no connection required to keep tracking.

Bug Fixes & Other

  • Fixed a crash when the camera reloaded.
  • Fixed a force-feedback conflict with Hori wheels.
  • Fixed several startup and shutdown crashes.
  • The game-detected prompt now appears over fullscreen games and can remember your choice per game.
  • You can now drag the top edge of any spline graph to change that axis's sensitivity directly on the curve.

Public Beta

If you want to help test the public beta version, here's how:

  1. Right-click LookPilot in your Steam library.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select Betas.
  4. Select publicbeta under Beta Participation.

Big thanks to everyone helping test the beta. It will be released to everyone if no new issues are found. Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
